Guess who's back...back again...

Alright. I'm officially moved back home to Fort Worth and officially...unemployed. Which means disaster for my bank account but pure, unadulterated joy for our collective musical knowledge.

This spring should prove for an exciting time to discover (and drown my un-employed sorrows in) some amazing new music.

Before I left the radio world, I announced my prediction that Adele's new album "21", expected to be released in February, is going to change the way we look at female vocalists in the current musical landscape. She's recently said that her inspiration for the album's sound came from artists like Lady Antebellum, Andrew Bird and Wanda Jackson, which may sound like strange bedfellows for a British songstress, but I for one think that Adele's vocals have the potential to take the endearing lyrics of the country-inspired movement of the last few years and bring them into the tangible light of real life. Raw and gritty and genuine.

UPDATE: I'll be heading to Austin in March to work SXSW 2011, which has always been a gold mine of new tunes. Remember last year brought us some unexpected surprises from some bands under my radar like this:

And this:

And of course...this:
